Interactive Observatory on Crime Incidence

National Citizen Observatory

Civil society organization that promotes understanding of the country's security, justice and legality conditions, seeking to influence the effectiveness of the authority's policies and actions.

For years the National Citizen Observatory and its research team have been working on the collection and analysis of information on crime incidence in the country. The processing and presentation of all this data, however, has always been a huge challenge.

In 2020 we designed and developed an interactive data visualization platform for the ONC that allows the organization to communicate what the situation is and update all the data in a few minutes.

Now people interested in knowing how insecurity has evolved in our country no longer need to consult the reports of more than one hundred pages that were issued monthly. In the interactive views of the platform it is possible to consult:

  • The geographical distribution of crimes at the federal and municipal level, by type of crime, through a map.
  • The evolution of crimes by state, since 1997, by type of crime, through a timeline.
  • The variation of crimes by federal entity and by type of crime, through a comparative table.
